HI just need some help/advice
I recieved a letter today from jobcentre plus!!! I was awarded DLA last july with higher mobility/ middle care but they say a query has arisen on my claim??? they are sending out a compliance officer to disscuse the matter on monday. Im a little confussed as thought that when you had the award it would be 3 yrs before reappling??
Im also woundering if this is something to do with my ex-husband as I went to the csa and also reported him as he was abusive to me on my door step re me contacting the csa, or am I being parodoid and this is something that happens???? feel upset as iv actally got severe R.A and they are putting me on anti tnfs!!!
I dont mind if they take it but everything I told them in my claim was true and I was awarded it with no problems, only dont think I could face tribunals etc...... is this a malisious act on my ex husbands part???????

Hi Corinne,
It certainly sounds to me like "new information has come to light". I should imagine it may have come from another source other than your ex .... the jobcentre itself if you've been claiming ESA maybe? I also receive DLA and spend my life worrying who's going to see me on a good day and assume I'm just another benefit cheat.
Stick to your guns on Monday. Try not to worry (easier said than done!!) ... don't feel intimidated and make sure you are confirming what you said in your claim form. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Good luck and please let us know how it goes.
Joanna

I agree Corinne-we can't say whether it's anything to do with your ex or not but it does sound suspicious. Do try not to worry, answer everything as it is on your worst day, don't rush around, hobble! And also don't go round madly tidying up, you wouldn't be up to it normally so let them see that. If you offer a cuppa and find the kettle difficult to pour then ask the person to pour it for you. If you normally have stuff handy around you to make life easy, leave it there. Have you someone who knows how bad you are who could sit in with you? YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Mary,Joanne, Julie
Iv been franticly looking on directgov too see if I could get some answers, I dont claim esa as i work mornings (at a struggle) thought maybe as went through csa but nothing came to light there!! Thinking maybe something to do with tax credits, which they started paying as I reduced my hours at work, also my daughters boyfriend starting living with us, maybe this is it!!! but the way the letter is worded makes me think it's DLA!!
Thanks for advice, I hobble at the best of times, but feel when only pottering round the house, dont look so bad, untill I try to go anywhere at speed!! my husband will hopefully be here on monday as he works shifts but will leave at 2pm, so hope they arrive before that.
Anyone that knows me will be appalled by this but I dont like to to be thought of as lying it's just not me! and as im soo bad at the moment ( awaiting hospital appointment on 29th for depo and disscussion to which anti tnf ) Im sure if they contact my consultant/ doctor will confirm too.
I hope that if this is the work of my ex... that they contact him to let him know how bad things are grrrrr. He is a bitter person that never puts his children first, hense the contacting csa after 8 yrs at least he makes more effort to see his daughter now (even if it is to reduce his payments) shame on him.
thats my rant over thanks for listening will let you know how it go's

Corrine, just to say good luck, cant help with this as not in that situation at present. As already said, let the person see you the real you. Dont feel intimidated, and just make it clear you have a right to the claim. If its tax credits, then its just the same. Let us know how it goes x x x BARBARA

corinne :( x Hi Corinne, Have you checked your DLA award letter to see how long you 've been awarded higher rate mobility and middle rate care? Sometimes they award "open ended/for life", 5 years, 3 years 2 years etc. The first time I was awarded "open ended", then when I ask for a review, although they awarded me both components at the higher rate, it was only for 2 years. However, I checked my letter and it does state, "we may look at your award again from time to time to make sure that you are getting the right amount of DLA.......". Could this be what's happening in your case? Hopefully its not your ex-husband making spurious allegations against you with the CSA. Either way, stick to your guns, compare yourself with a healthy person when the compliance officer turns up. Good luck! Carol

Hi I think they try and spot check as i have had a man turn up out of the blue . I have been moblie since MTX really did its job and it does well . Been to the job centre as well a few times .I was took off dla but have Incaptisty think they check as Mary says so many pull a fast one . But i would not keep up at work .They can see that as they are human I got asked if i wanted to work while on it good adivse about shaw trust very freindley nothing to worrie about I expect theres lots of reasons why they are checking you you may not have been reported .i GOT REWARDED DLA for 3 years but became moblie again the chap who spot checked me said you really need to come off dla now .But they don,t take you off right away you will get lots of warning .I a way spot checking is good as so many pull a fast one .I don,t think the chap was watching me or someone reporting me .Well i don,t know my naigbours and not well known here and dont come from here Christine The chocolate eating housewife ...The washer woman .....naughty lady

Thanks, Barbara,Carol,Christine
I just worrie as I have a mobility car, it's our only means of getting out and about and has been a god send,I live at the back of tesco but have to drive as the walk (which is not far) is too much then to actually walk around the shop doe's me in, I offten shop on line for this too, I really wish I didn't have R.A then I would'nt need to worry about getting benifits !!! It want be terrible if they take me off but I had reduced my working hours as it was too much, so the benifits made up the short fall in wages ,I suppose would just have to ask for my hours back but at the cost of what????
I suppose Im upset as been really bad of late and finding everything a struggle, to which im sure they will see, so should not worry really !!!! have a feeling this is going to make me worse and thevisit is a day after my daughter birthday DAME IT.....

Corrine, so sorry this is such a worry to you. I don't know much about the mobility car as I can't drive, but a neighbour has one, and she had to be checked by a doctor again recently. I think they can see what the problems are, and usually do listen to you, so they can only write what they see and what you tell them re mobility meds etc. It shouold be obvious that walking is a big problem for you and that you need the car, it should be all ok, will be thinking of you x xBARBARA

Hi everyone I had my visit today,as predicted seems it was someone had REPORTED me! only one guess, yes my ex-husband,although not mentioned by name, the time of reporting and what was mentioned, smacked of his spitfullness, and when I said this to the officer his face said it all. The officer asked what I was claiming, and when I told him DLA his reply was "well thats not mean tested so you can work" He went on to ask me questions on my mobility, wrote it down and got me to sign it. I wasn't aware that you had to report a holiday abroad??? but apparently you do at the begining of a claim, but not if you've been claiming for a while!! He told me that he will submit his report and they may or may not want me to go for a medical?? I told the officer that I will report any changes as will be starting on Anti-Tnf, but how long to you have to be well for without any relapes??? I was upset when he left as just had to go over how R.A effects me and my life, which im still trying to come to tearms with! My eldist daughter was disgusted and upset too and want's to tell her dad, but Iv advised against this as dont want to give him the satisfaction, also my youngest daughter is upset as it was her birthday yesturday and her dad said he txt her (which she said he had'nt) and his girlfriend text her to say they were dissapointed that she had'nt rang to say thank you for her card!! everyone else managed to ring her to wish a happy birthday( this is not the first time on their b/days this has happened) he really is not doing himself any favours! This is all because I went to the csa and reported him to the police as he was abusive towards (to do with csa) if this was a mother behaving like this they would be dragged through the mud and aclaimed to be a terrible mother! all this added stress has terrible effect on my health my jaw has been very painfull again to add to the long list of joints that hurt grrrrrrr I don't want them to get the better of me but it's hurtfull as im not a dis-honest person. sorry for the rant needed to get that off my chest love corinne xxx

I`m really sorry to hear this, Corinne, and I hope it will make no difference to your DLA. Hopefully the officer will have taken note that this was a report made with the most spiteful of intentions. Take care, Kathleen x

Hopefully your DLA award wont be affected by your ex-husband's meddling into your personal affairs. After all, he doesn't live with you anymore so he's hardly the best person to know how your RA affects your day to day living. Good luck! Carol
